PeaceHealth Lynden Clinic
-
The PeaceHealth Lynden Clinic is a 25,000SF single floor regional clinic with an urgent care facility located in Lynden, WA. This project was challenging for LEED certification due to its remote location and program. Despite being a medical facility, the LEED rating system for healthcare only applies to in-patient hospital facilities, so we certified the project under the new construction system, which can apply to any project type. Ventilation compliance with ASHRAE was particularly difficult given the medical exam room uses. We successfully sought approval for a hybrid approach that combined healthcare related outside air requirements with more typical office spaces. On the site, extensive rainwater infiltration combined with pervious pavement and walking paths winding through vegetated areas, provide gentle recreation and connection to nature for patients while mitigating seasonal flooding. A large 86 kWh PV array installed on the roof contributed greatly to the 44% energy reduction projected by our energy model, while offering emergency backup power.
We’re proud to serve projects like this that contribute so much to the health and wellbeing of local communities. And we are very pleased to have successfully guided this clinic to PeaceHealth’s very first LEED certified facility.
